Johns Hopkins' commitment to Baltimore
Johns Hopkins University and Health System leaders sent a message to faculty, staff, and students this morning highlighting some of Johns Hopkins' steps to strengthen Baltimore over the past year and encouraging members of the Hopkins community to continue to seek out ways to engage with the city.
The message, which notes that this month marks the "somber" one-year anniversary of the death of Freddie Gray and the unrest that followed in the city, was co-written by Johns Hopkins University President Ronald J. Daniels; Paul B. Rothman, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine; and Ronald R. Peterson, president of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
"As gratified as we are by the efforts undertaken by our extraordinary, committed community," they wrote, "it is clear that our work is not yet complete."
