Want to learn about the art of bonsai? This exciting experience will provide you with the history of bonsai, provide basic design principals, and share basic bonsai styles. Learn the fundamentals of turning ordinary houseplants into living works of art. This workshop will cover the major styles of bonsai along with plant and container selection, branch and root pruning, wiring, and potting.
We’ll begin the evening with a presentation that includes the history of this Japanese art form that has its “roots” in Chinese bonsai known as Penjing. We’ll also discuss the steps of creating a bonsai starting with obtaining suitable plant material. The main event is the creation of a juniper bonsai. The training process includes pruning, wiring for shape, and re-potting into shallow, bonsai type containers. Everything you need will be provided to you and you will be guided every step of the way.
