Suggested Events
Regional Community and Chapter events keep alumni engaged with one another and help to preserve a lifelong connection to Johns Hopkins University. By gathering your local community, you are making a huge impact by enriching the alumni experience.
When brainstorming for event ideas, here are a few good rules of thumb to keep in mind:
- Determine the goal of the event and the target audience
- Decide on events that are relatively easy to plan and execute
- Keep in mind that constituents in your community are diverse—consider different geographical locations and different needs based on age and university affiliation
- While many events will be free, you can also set a ticket price based on the final cost of the event. We always strive to make events affordable, especially younger alumni
- Limited funding is available, so don’t let cost hinder your creativity
- Plan well in advance and maintain communication with the Office of Alumni Relations to assure that we can promote the event effectively
- Events near public transportation often make them easier to attend
