Low cost or no cost events in your Community

Low cost or no costs events are a terrific way to supplement higher cost events for your community. These events will be easy to plan, and even better, can happen on a regular basis. These ongoing events will be the backbone of your event calendar, ensuring your community has an opportunity to get together frequently and build strengthen their ties with one another and with the university. Here are some examples of events:

  • Hikes
    • Individuals pack their own lunches and pay their own park entrance fees, if applicable
  • Family picnics in the park
    • Designate a spot, and decorate with balloons
    • Have everyone bring a pot luck dish
  • Networking Happy Hours, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners
    • Guests purchase their own meals or drinks
    • If doing a happy hour, utilize the chapter budget to get some appetizers
  • Foodie events
    • Get a group of alumni together to try a new restaurant
