Lower East Side Tenement Museum Tour: The Victoria Confino Story

Join us for a tour of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Our private JHU group will "meet" Victoria Confino. A costumed interpreter plays the role of a 14-year-old  girl who lived with her Greek Sephardic family in a first floor apartment in 1916. Visitors take on the role of newly-arrived immigrants and learn how to navigate a new world by learning from someone who came before them. Visitors are allowed to handle household objects and get a feel for what the immigrant experience was really like. The tour starts promptly at 4:00pm and ends by 5:30pm.

After the tour, you are encouraged to continue with the "Old World" flavor by dining as a group just around the corner at Cafe Katja; considered Manhattan's best Austrian restaurant by many but with a casual, neighborhood feel. Enjoy your first cocktail and a selection of hearty appetizers compliments of the AEME Affinity and JHU Alumni Association. A great way to discuss the tour and end your weekend among new JHU friends.
