Rocking & Roping at Great Falls on the Potomac
Hosted by JHU Outdoor Explorations Affinity
Anne Hobson, A&S 2012, was a climbing instructor at Outdoor Pursuits at Johns Hopkins and the rock wall manager for 2 years. She has maintained the passion still guides climbing trips to Great Falls with Sportrock, a climbing gym based out of Alexandria VA and Sterling VA. She has volunteered to lead a JHU exclusive half day program at Great Falls with all gear and set-up included. It is a 30 minute drive from DC to an absolutely beautiful location right on the Potomac river. Normal price is $65, but we are offering this alumni experience to you at an amzingly reduced rate - see, it pays to be a Hopkins alum!
No prior experience is needed; Sportrock has AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) certified instructors who are also licensed Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responders – so we will be in great hands!
Climbing will run until 12 noon. Pack a lunch if you would like to enjoy a picnic lunch and casual networking with your fellow climbers from noon – 1:00pm overlooking the river or on the picnic lawns nearby.
Important Information: Please bring water, sunscreen, lunch and closed-toed walking shoes. Minimum Age is 8. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
