Alumni Weekend FAQs
Q: What is Alumni Weekend?
A: Alumni Weekend is an annually hosted weekend of events for alumni, family, and friends to return to the Homewood Campus and reunite with classmates. There are about 100 events held during the weekend. During Alumni Weekend 2024, April 5 - 7, we will celebrate reunion classes ending in 4’s and 9’s. But, everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the fun!
Q: Where should I go if I need assistance during Alumni Weekend?
A: University staff and volunteers will be available at the Welcome Tent on Decker Quad to answer any questions or address any needs that may arise. Please do not hesitate to stop by with questions or just to say hello. The Welcome Tent is open on Friday, April 5, 10am - 10pm, and Saturday, April 6, 8am - midnight.
Q. Where can I park?
Free parking is located at the South Garage under Mason Hall. Click here for directions.
Q: Are there any special events for my class?
Yes! Check out your class page on alumni.jhu.edu/reunion for class events and updates.
Q: Do I have to be celebrating a reunion year to attend Alumni Weekend?
A: Absolutely not! Most events throughout the weekend are open to everyone.
Q: Can I bring a guest to Alumni Weekend?
A: Of course, guests are welcome at every event during the weekend! The more the merrier! Just make sure to register everyone who is attending.
Q: Can I bring my child(ren) to Alumni Weekend?
A: We’d love for the kids to join the fun of Alumni Weekend. We offer many child-friendly events including Blue Jay Kids Activities Club and Jr. Jays Lax Clinic. We even have child care during class celebrations on Saturday evening (Camp Blue Jay for ages 6 – 12). Make sure to register everyone who is attending.
Q: How do I register for Alumni Weekend?
Pre-registration will close on April 4, so don't wait to register! After our pre-registration date closes, you can continue to register online (and even at the Welcome Tent), but you will have to pay an additional $10 per person, per event charge.
If you are celebrating a reunion this year, you can choose between your class signature package, which will be a discounted price for a bundle of signature events, or your class a la carte package, which will allow you to individually choose which events you’d like to attend.
Q: Can I see who else is registered to attend Alumni Weekend?
A: Visit the Who’s Coming page of our registration page. If you're friends haven't registered yet, remind them to join us by registering at https://alumni.jhu.edu/aw2024.
Q: Can I register for events once I get to campus?
A: Yes! Onsite registration will be available at the Welcome Tent on Decker Quad, adjacent to Mason Hall, throughout the weekend. All on-site registrations will be charged an additional $10 per person, per event. You can also continue to register online.
Q: Is there a fee for Alumni Weekend and how do I pay?
A: Some events do have an associated fee – we can accept all major credit cards through the registration form. Please note: refunds can only be returned to the credit card on file. Please make sure the card does not expire prior to the date of the Alumni Weekend event. If you pay with a prepaid gift card, hold on to the card in case the card number needs to be referenced in the future. On the registration form, you will see a cost next to all events that have a fee. For events without a fee, you will see the option to choose either “Attending,” or “Not Attending.”
We encourage everyone to stay up to date on emails and social media for special promotions! Follow us on Facebook at Johns Hopkins Alumni Association and Instagram @jhu_alumni.
Q: If I pay for an event I don’t attend, will I be refunded?
A: Refunds will be honored on or before March 31. After that date, refunds will no longer be processed.
Q: Where can I stay during Alumni Weekend?
A: Check out the local hotel options on our accommodations page.
Q: What is the attire for Alumni Weekend?
A: Casual spring attire is recommended for most Homecoming events, but keep in mind, Baltimore weather in April can be unpredictable, so please plan to dress for the elements. Dressy casual is recommended only for reunion class celebrations on Saturday afternoon/evening, unless otherwise indicated for your class event. Post-Lacrosse Game events, typically held around 4:30, are on the more casual side.
Q: I can’t wait for the Homecoming lacrosse game! Where do I get tickets?
A: You can purchase tickets for the lacrosse game on our registration form. There are two ticket options: general seating ($12) or reserved seating ($15). Tickets are limited, so register as soon as we open the site up in January 2024.
Q: Are Kosher meals available? Are there any Shabbat services?
A: Yes! We can provide Kosher meals at every event with food. During the registration process, please make sure to select Kosher in the Dietary Restrictions.
Alternatively, alumni are welcome to sign up for meals at Johns Hopkins Hillel located at the Smokler Center for Jewish Life, Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Building, 3109 N Charles St. Baltimore, MD 21218. Check back for more information and to sign up for Shabbat dinner and services.
Q: Does Homewood Field have a clear bag policy:
A: Yes! JHU has implemented a clear bag policy. Clear bags 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller will be allowed to enter Homewood Field. One gallon Ziploc-style bags or small clutch purses (4.5" x 6.5") are also permitted in the stadium. All bags will be searched upon entrance. Any bags larger than the 12" x 6" x 12" size, or bags that are not clear, will not be allowed in the stadium, and they will not be held at the gate during the event. Non-permitted back packs must be returned to your vehicle before entering the stadium.
Also, glass mugs are not allowed into the stadium.
Q: The campus has changed since I was a student! How can I find my way around and visit new buildings on campus?
A: We invite you to register for a campus walking tour during the weekend. They will be held on Friday, April 5 at 3pm, and Saturday, April 6 at 10:30am. But, make sure you register early - these tours are popular and sell out fast! We also encourage you to flag down a golf cart driver and ask for a tour around the campus. There will be campus maps available in the Welcome Tent throughout the weekend. You can take a virtual tour as well.
