The American Writers Museum: Get Up Close with the Nation’s Greatest Authors

Join Hopkins Chicago for a “best-selling” evening at the recently opened American Writers Museum on Michigan Avenue. Voted #1 Best Illinois Attraction by USA Today and one of the “World’s 10 Best New Museums” by Fodor’s Travel, the Museum celebrates American authors and explores their influence on our history, culture, identity, and daily lives. Multimedia exhibits feature some of our country's greatest writers from James Baldwin to Tennessee Williams and Nelson Algren to Margaret Wise (Good Night, Moon). In the process, visitors explore works of every type—poetry, lyrics (yup that includes Bob Dylan), speeches, novels, drama, journalism and more.

We’ll have the museum’s beautiful galleries to ourselves at this exclusive after-hours event. Alumni and friends will be treated to an informative introduction to the museum, plus a reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Parking is available at 60 East Lake St, 20 East Randolph and elsewhere nearby. The museum encourages you to use Spot Hero or other online parking reservation systems to save money and be on time.
