Class Banner Competition

A Hopkins tradition for more than 100 years

Each year, the incoming class is challenged to design a banner that will represent their class in perpetuity.

Class Banners

This Johns Hopkins tradition, dating back to 1881, is one of the first activities that new students can get involved in as part of the Johns Hopkins alumni community. The banners of the current undergraduate classes, which normally reside at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library, will hang in a designated location while the library is under renovation until graduation. All of the original banners from all Johns Hopkins undergraduate classes are displayed each year in the Welcome Tent on the Homewood campus' Decker Quad during Alumni Weekend.

Check out the current class banners, designed by students from the Classes of 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028. The winning Class of 2029 design will be added to banner displays after it is unveiled during Convocation this Fall. Want to throw it way back? Check out the archive of banners here!
