Robert Barbera Biography

Robert Barbera ’74/’79
Robert Barbera has worked as a Wall Street economist since 1982. Prior to joining Mount Lucas, Dr. Barbera was the Managing Director and Chief Economist at Investment Technology Group. He also has held leadership roles at Capital Investment International, Lehman Brothers, and E.F. Hutton. Early in his career, he served as an economist for U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas and for the Congressional Budget Office. A former lecturer at M.I.T., Barbera is currently a Fellow and Co-Director, Center for Financial Economics in the Economics Department of The Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of The Cost of Capitalism: Understanding Market Mayhem and Stabilizing Our Economic Future. Dr. Barbera holds a B.A. and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University.
