What is GoHopOnline.com?
GoHopOnline is a web-based networking platform dedicated to helping Johns Hopkins alumni connect with former classmates; mentor and coach current students and recent graduates; and expand their career connection through insider contacts in top companies.  Users can also find out information about alumni programs, events, jobs, internships, and more using GoHopOnline.

Are all of my classmates listed in GoHopOnline?  What information is public?
All alumni that have a profile in the Johns Hopkins alumni database will appear in GoHopOnline.  Only an alumnus’ name, degree, and grad year are listed.  All other information remains private until an alumnus creates a profile and makes additional information public.

I graduated from another school that uses a directory similar to GoHopOnline.  Can I access both directories with my sign on information?
Directory services offered by different institutions through Graduway, the company that partnered with Johns Hopkins to create GoHopOnline, will not be merged with each other.  The GoHopOnline directory will only contain Johns Hopkins alumni.  However, users can sign into each of their Graduway-created alumni directories using one ID and password via their social media accounts (Facebook and LinkedIn).

I’m not interested in all of the mentoring options, but GoHopOnline preselects mentoring options for me.  Why?
One of the main benefits of GoHopOnline for alumni is the mentoring feature.  To ensure that we build a robust feature in GoHopOnline, the buttons are prechecked.  However, it takes just a few seconds to uncheck them based on your comfort level.  You can check as many or as few as you like.

What will Johns Hopkins do with my personal information that I list in GoHopOnline?
Any updated information contained in your GoHopOnline profile will be used to update the information Johns Hopkins currently has for you in your alumni profile.

Is GoHopOnline mobile-friendly?
Yes.  GoHopOnline was designed to ensure optimal viewing on all devices, including desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, and more.

Does GoHopOnline have an alumni mapping feature?
Yes.  Users can view alumni in a given geographical area using the mapping feature on the mobile version of GoHopOnline.

Is GoHopOnline available as an app?
Yes. It is currently available on Google Play and the App Store. 

Does GoHopOnline have a search feature?
Yes.  Users can search by name, grad year, degree, key word, and more.

Can anyone access GoHopOnline?
No.  Users that have a .jhu.edu, .jhmi.edu, or alumni.jh.edu email addresses are able to automatically log into GoHopOnline.  In addition, anyone that logs in with a non-jhu email address, like a gmail, yahoo, or hotmail address that matches the email address listed in the university’s alumni database can automatically log into GoHopOnline.  All other users must be authenticated by the Johns Hopkins GoHopOnline administrator before they can access GoHopOnline.  The approval process takes 24-48 hours.

Can GoHopOnline users use the information contained in GoHopOnline for business purposes?
No.  The content and directory information contained in GoHopOnline is for use by registered/ authorized users only and should be used for non-commercial, non-solicitation, and non-political personal communication between individuals.  Use of this information in any other way is strictly prohibited and may result in revocation of directory access or legal action as appropriate.  Directory information may not be used by anyone other than the authorized user viewing it and may not be distributed or sold.

What are the benefits of logging in with LinkedIn or Facebook?
Logging in with LinkedIn or Facebook speeds up the login process. This option allows you to easily connect profiles you've already set up through the other social platforms. This also allows you to see what other alumni in your social networks are using our platform, as well as invite your fellow alumni to join GoHopOnline if they have not already done so.

I updated my information, but it's not appearing that way in my profile.
Each section on the "update your profile" page has its own individual "update" button. You must click this button for each section you update before clicking "I'm done updating" when you're finished.

I recently updated my information on my Facebook or LinkedIn account. How do I update this information in my GoHopOnline profile?
When logged into the platform, click on your profile image at the top right hand side of the page.  Then, click the the "wheel" icon next to your name. Click on "connect" to sync your accounts. 

What if I don't have a LinkedIn or Facebook account?
You can log in using an email address. If it is an email address we already have on file, you will be automatically approved. If we don't have the updated contact information, your approval will be pending, and the alumni office will verify your information. You should receive approval notice within one business day.

What if I don’t see my degree listed when I log in using an email address?
If you don’t see your degree listed, please email alumni@jhu.edu, and we will review your request.
