You’re Already a Member

If you’re a Johns Hopkins graduate, you’re a member. As of November 1, 2011, dues are no longer required. You can now foster a global network of mutual support, friendship and exploration among the more than 170,000 Johns Hopkins alumni around the globe.

Why the Change?

In recent years, Johns Hopkins along with other elite universities have begun realizing that the most effective and helpful alumni organization is one that actively engages all graduates. This realization led the Alumni Council to agree that the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association should be an inclusive organization that welcomes all graduates rather than an exclusive group that requires members to pay dues.

With that goal in mind, the Alumni Council voted to eliminate annual dues and to include all 170,000 plus alumni of The Johns Hopkins University in the association’s membership (not just dues payers). The decision was made in order to ensure that your association remains both vibrant and useful not only to you but to successive generations of alumni.

This change affects both former dues-paying members and lifetime members of the Alumni Association. In recognition of this fact, the Alumni Council of the Alumni Association has created an exclusive leadership giving society. The Cerulean Society will guarantee current lifetime members their continued position of leadership and will offer any graduate an opportunity to provide enduring financial support.
