Robert Ford Nominated as U.S. Ambassador to Syria

Robert Ford, A&S '80, SAIS '83, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. embassy Baghdad, Iraq, has just been nominated by President Obama as the U.S. Ambassador to Syria. If confirmed by the Senate, Ford will be the first U.S. Ambassador to Damascus since February 2005. Ford's appointment is expected to advance U.S. interests by improving communication with Syria.
