Be a Road Scholar. Volunteers are needed for a Johns Hopkins Public Safety Initiative

Nearly 3,000 pedestrians and cyclists are involved in motor vehicle crashes in the state of Maryland every year. More than 100 die as a result of their injuries.

The Road Scholar campaign was conceived with input from diverse members of the Johns Hopkins community in spring 2012. The campaign includes a dramatic public safety installation that will launch this new initiative.

We need your help.

The 3,000 shoes assembled represent accident victims from all walks of life – men, women, even children. Volunteers will be needed between 10 am and 5 pm on Friday, with more possibly needed on Saturday. We will ask people to work in teams to affix the shoes in pairs to the fence with zip ties.

No registration or check-in required – just show up and lend a hand. Find out more information about this wonderful day of community service and how you can help make a difference.
