Black Enterprise featured its pick of "America's leading doctors" in its May 2008 issue. The list highlighted 140 African-American physicians from across the nation who see patients, teach and conduct research in a range of medical specialties.
To compile the list, the magazine consulted organizations such as the American Medical Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and leading medical schools such as the Howard University, Duke University and the Mayo Medical School. Its research team assigned great weight to innovative doctors who have been involved in medical breakthroughs.
Among those that Black Enterprise deemed the "best and brightest in medicine" were the following Johns Hopkins physicians:
• Arthur Burnett II, Med ‘88, Professor of Urology, Director of the Basic Science Laboratory in Neuro-urology, Director of the Male Consultation Clinic
