The Excellence in Teaching Award
Established 1992

The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes the critical importance of teaching at Johns Hopkins.

To see a listing of past recipients, please select the date of the award.

Award Criteria

The Alumni Council, which designates $2,000 for each division to fund the awards, requires the following for funding:

There must be student involvement in the selection process.

The award(s) must be given in a forum that is well attended by students and faculty.

The Alumni Association must be recognized publicly for its funding of the award(s).

Each division must arrange for follow up publicity for the awards recipient in a widely read divisional or University publication.

Each school may decide to honor one or two awardees. To maximize the impact, the award should not be divided among more than two recipients.

Teaching assistants and junior members of the faculty may be considered for an award.
