The 2013 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory is a comprehensive reference tool that lists all living Johns Hopkins University alumni* from each of the nine divisions. We partner with Harris Connect (www.harrisconnect.com), a company that, for the last 40 years, has specialized in helping institutions and member-based organizations stay in touch with their constituents through various solutions, including commemorative publications like the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory.

Who is Harris Connect?

Harris Connect (www.harrisconnect.com) has worked with more than 5,000 institutions and membership-based organizations over the last four decades to create various solutions to help members to stay in touch, including directories like the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory. The Johns Hopkins Office of Alumni Relations has partnered with Harris Connect to produce the 2003, 2008 and 2013 Alumni Directories to benefit you and your Alumni Association.

Why does The Johns Hopkins University create an Alumni Directory? 

The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory gives alumni another avenue to reconnect with classmates for social and networking opportunities. In addition, it allows the Johns Hopkins University Office of Alumni Relations to ensure that they have the most up-do-date contact information for you, so that they can let you know about updates to your Alumni Association benefits, as well as new programs and opportunities that become available.

How often is the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory published?  

The 2013 edition of the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory will be the third university-wide directory that has been published through Harris Connect. Previous editions include the 2003 and 2008 editions.

 In what formats is the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory issued?

The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory is available in hard-bound and soft-bound print versions, as well as on CD-ROM. The CD-ROM is also available in two versions – as a comprehensive CD-ROM that includes the entire alumni directory, or in a division-specific CD. 

I’m interested in purchasing a CD, but what if I have an issue about how to use it once I install it?

Basic operating instructions are included on the CD sleeve. The CD also comes with an easy-to-use help system that provides tips on searching the database and customizing the screens.

What kind of computer do I need to use the CD?

The CD will work on most PC and MAC computers.

Will I be able to print from the CD?

Yes. You are able to print individual records as well as pages from the editorial section.

Is tech support available if I have an issue?

Harris Connect Tech Support is available Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EST. Tech Support and Customer Service numbers are included on the CD sleeve.

How secure is my personal information that is included in the Johns Hopkins Alumni Directory?

All personal information contained on the CD is encrypted and can only be viewed inside the Search Party application. The encryption has never been compromised.

Will I be contacted to update my personal information? How?

Yes. Unless indicated otherwise**, all Johns Hopkins University alumni will be contacted by our directory partner, Harris Connect, and provided an opportunity to update their information. 

Mail and email communications from Harris Connect/the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association will begin in October, 2012. Four postcard communications will be mailed every other week, and four email communications will be sent on the alternating weeks. All communications will include a toll-free phone number for you to call to verify your personal information. Once your information is updated, your name will be removed from future mail and email communications from Harris Connect/the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association for the 2013 Alumni Directory project. 

What if I do not respond to the mail or email requests? Will I have an opportunity to update my information before the 2013 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory is printed?

Yes. In December 2012, Harris Connect will telephone any alumni who did not have an opportunity previously to update their information.** They will make calls Monday – Friday, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until about 9:00 p.m., in all time zones. They may try to contact you at work during the day, in the evening, or during the weekend at home. On Saturdays, they may call from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If you are contacted at a time that is inconvenient for you, simply let the representative know. They will give you the Harris Connect toll-free number for you to call them back at a more convenient time or will arrange to call you later.

You have the opportunity to update your personal information through the end of December, 2012.

My name is included on the Federal Do Not Call list. Will Harris Connect contact me by phone to update my personal information for the 2013 Johns Hopkins University Directory?

No. Harris Connect has removed those names from their phone list.

What personal information is included in the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory?

Each alumnus can tailor their personal listing to include as much or as little information as they like. Each alumnus profile can include:

Division codes, class years and degrees earned from The Johns Hopkins University

Training divisions, start years, end years and training level codes

Job function code

Degrees and names of other institutions attended

Title, employer name, address and telephone number

Residence address and telephone number

Spouse’s name

Children’s names

Email address

How does the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory organize my personal information?

The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory is organized into 5 sections:

School Biographical Section – Alumni are listed alphabetically and includes the information listed in the above answer, when available.

School/Class Year Section – Alumni are listed by their student names under their divisions, class years, training divisions, end years and start years received from Johns Hopkins University.

Alphabetical Index – Alumni are listed under their current name and student name which appear in alphabetical order. Following each name are division codes, class years, training division codes, end years and start years for degrees received from Johns Hopkins University.

Geographical Section – Alumni are listed under their residence address. Following each name are vision codes, end years, start years and job function codes.

Career Network Section – Alumni are listed under their job functions which appear in alphabetical order. Following each name is a job specialty code.

I just updated my personal information, but have decided that I no longer want my information listed in the 2013 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory. Can it be removed?

Yes. If you wish to remove your information from the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory, you can contact Harris Connect directly via the information below. Please note that omission requests for print directory programs must be received by Harris Connect in a timely fashion before the directory goes to print, and will be honored by Harris Connect if the request is received prior to the conclusion of the information update phase of the program, tentatively scheduled for the end of December, 2012.

No. Alumni have no obligation to purchase the 2013 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You may pay for the 2013 Alumni Directory by credit card or check. Harris Connect also offers installment payment plans, allowing you to pay for your directory over time. Division CD’s must be paid in full by credit card.

If I place an order using a credit or debit card, how will the charge appear on my statement?

On most major credit card statements, “HC” will appear with the name of the institution, e.g. HC The Johns Hopkins University. On American Express statements, “Harris Connect” will appear with the name of the institution, e.g. Harris Connect The Johns Hopkins University.

What if I decided that I would like to cancel my order? 

Orders may be canceled by writing “Cancel” on the invoice and sending it back to Harris Connect, or by calling the Harris Connect Customer Service Department at 800-877-6554. Be sure to have your account number ready when calling.

When will the 2013 Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory be available for shipment?

The final Johns Hopkins University Alumni Directory is tentatively scheduled to release in March 2013.

What happens if I decide that I'm not interested in purchasing a directory now, but then I change my mind later. Can I still order a copy?

Yes. Harris Connect has arranged to print as many directories as are ordered before they go to press. So, if you do change your mind prior to publication, you can call the dedicated toll-free number to order your copy.

*Excludes alumni that have opted out of the Directory.
